Even though Christmas cards are a nice gesture, we will be doing without them again this year. Instead, there will be moors. Because environmental protection is really close to our hearts (after all, that’s why we’re in inland shipping!), we want to support an important environmental project this year: moors. They are huge CO2 reservoirs: although they only cover three per cent of the world’s land area, they bind twice as much carbon as all the world’s forests put together! The renaturation of drained moors is therefore one of the best ways to offset our emissions. That is why we are donating €1,500 to the NABU-Stiftung Nationales Naturerbe (NABU National Natural Heritage Foundation). This will help NABU to permanently acquire areas of land and transform them back into functional moors.
